With the weather still warm but a bit more bearable, you may be more likely to lace up the running shoes and hit the road or trail for some exercise. Read on for some basic safety tips from the Road Runners Club to help stay safe running outside:
- Stay alert to your surroundings, and don’t wear headphones.
- Run against traffic.
- Wear reflective material at dawn and dusk or after dark.
- Carry identification and medical info on the inside sole of your running shoe.
- Bring a cellphone.
- Go with a partner or a dog.
Regular exercise can help ease arthritis pain and elevate your mood, so fitting it in to your schedule is key to good health. Remember that it’s important to stay hydrated even when it feels a little cooler out, and sunscreen is always a must.
