She points out that in Italy, paying attention to good food is central to the way of life. For example, there’s no word for “foodie” there, because it applies to everyone. 

Krieger also advises following Italians’ cue and eating seasonally, savoring meals rather than rushing through them, and paying attention to how food makes you feel, not only how it tastes.
